Messages from The Club Officers

Message from the President

Greetings everybody: It is time for me to move on and I will be finishing my term as President of the Quarter Century Club at the end of this year 2006.  My experience as the current IBM QCC President has been a rewarding lifetime experience for several reasons. I have seen the Club improve our membership and that has been very rewarding.  Second, our club provides opportunities for members and their families to meet, to console in times of illness, to network and improve their personal pursuits. And lastly, the interaction with so many others has enabled self-improvement. I encourage all of our membership to take time to reflect on making a contribution to our Club and to our membership for the coming year by submitting your name or by asking others that you think might be interested in running for a Club office.

In addition, the current secretary and treasurer positions will also be vacant. There comes a time when we need to move on and open the doors for new people to join. I strongly urge you to consider helping our QCC by submitting your name for an officer position. Without your help, our QCC will not function. Kindly reflect on the Office descriptions that follow. If I or another Club Officer can answer a question, please contact one or all of us.

President:  The President shall preside at all scheduled meetings of the IBM QCC. He/She shall perform all acts that he/she is required or authorized through our by-laws to do. The President will be responsible for the overall functioning of the Club. He/She will assure that the Club Board works together as a team and is dedicated to achieving the Club vision, mission and objectives as detailed in the Club by-laws.

Vice President:  The Vice President shall assist the president and shall preside at meetings that the president is unable to attend. The Vice President shall also provide support for assigned activities and responsibilities.

Secretary:  The Secretary shall keep records of all proceedings, actions and meetings of the IBM QCC Board, recording the vote and minutes thereof in a book or books kept for that purpose. The secretary shall also participate in suggestions for improvements, possible future activities and events, and in the external communications with other outside organizations.

Treasurer:  The Treasurer will be responsible for the solicitation of input from Club officers and members for the development of financial goals and objectives for the IBM QCC Board, the preparation of an annual financial reconciliation, as well as the collection and disbursement of all Club moneys. The Treasurer shall also participate with appropriate reminders in the IBM QCC Newsletter.

Please continue to share your stories and ideas for the Newsletter. I know there are good ideas out there just waiting to be shared. They could include trips, camping, movies and meeting at a park for a nice day out, cruises, etc. So, please contact any of the officers with your ideas and suggestions. As I have said before, this is your club and your ideas do count! Have a great summer and be safe. Hope to see you at our future events.

Sincerely
Lupe Travis

Message from the Treasurer
The treasurer's job is open for 2007. If anyone wants to be treasurer please let one of the officers know and we can accommodate you.

Also, please take the time to send in your voluntary dues of $5. These dues are used to send flowers and donations to our members in times of illness and sorrow and to provide funds for our potlucks and office expenses. We are looking forward to a good year of participation at all of the events and meeting all of our old friends. Thanks again for allowing me to serve you.

Message from the Secretary
It's time for me to move on and let others participate on the QCC board. It's been over seven years since I took over this job and I won't stop being active. I've agreed to take over the QCC website and will make sure that you can get the information there as well as what is mailed to you. Also, the website will be able to include announcements between newsletters.
